Mendicant — A Minimal Writing Platform

Mendicant is a stripped-back writing environment built for the kind of focus that most tools accidentally destroy. No sidebar, no plugins, no collaboration prompts. Just a blank field and your words.

The Problem

Every major writing tool has gradually accreted features until the act of writing became a negotiation with software. Notion, Obsidian, even iA Writer — each has a gravity that pulls attention sideways.

The Approach

Built on SvelteKit with a local-first architecture using IndexedDB. Sync happens via a thin Cloudflare Workers layer. The constraint of no markdown preview forced us to build a better inline formatting experience.
