Thoughts on the PTOTD
The more you engage in meaningful conversations with non-functional teams, the more likely are you able to empathize. The more you empathize, the better your understanding of the problem space. It might seem simple, but is really hard to do.
You should go and talk to folks from different departments and domains. Talk to your HR, your markeitng teams and understand the impact of your product decisions on them. Even if they’re not directly affected, you’ll understand their problem space better – which invariably leads to better understanding of your problem space. Go out of your own domain to figure out how others are tackling challenges. Seek opportunities for innovation. Try & fail… and try again. The more you get your hands dirty, the better you will be at handling future challenges
